Beyond Infinity – A Giant Brioche Scarf Knitting Pattern Inspired by Buzz

Beyond Infinity scarf modeled at the Buzz Wall at California Adventure

About Beyond Infinity Scarf

The Beyond Infinity scarf is a statement piece. That statement is: I love Disney and Toy Story! I thought of the idea for this scarf when I first saw pictures of the Buzz Wall at Disney’s California Adventure. Size inspiration was drawn from the infamous Lenny Kravitz giant scarf picture. This huge brioche scarf is perfect for your Instagram pictures or Disneybounding as Buzz Lightyear. The scarf is knit in two strips and joined together using an attached I-cord. Pattern includes detailed photos of joining method as well as a link to general instructions for attached I-cord.

If you’re a Disney fan, you should also check out some of the yarn color palettes I’ve put together. I have one for Fantasyland, Frointierland, and New Orleans Square. Droid, please. Half Circle Shawl Knitting Pattern

droid please shawl on bb8

About Droid, please.

Droid, please. is BB-8 in shawl form! Look closely and you’ll see all the circular details. In the black stripes you’ll find tiny circles in the form of eyelets, in the orange stripes you’ll see circles formed by cables, and the scalloped border gives the illusion of our favorite droid rolling right along.

Droid, please. is a smallish, half-circle shawl that uses a BB-8 colored yarn for the main color (BB-sheep by Lazer Sheep Yarns). This pattern is a relaxing knit with a few cables to keep it interesting. Your finished shawl is immediately recognizable as everyone’s favorite droid. Any Star Wars fan would love to wear it!

If you love Star Wars, you should also check out my The Shawl You’re Looking For pattern. It uses more Star Wars inspired colors by Lazer Sheep Yarns.

Everywhen – A Unique Triangle Shawl Knitting Pattern

Everywhen shawl pattern

About Everywhen Shawl

The Everywhen shawl is an all-season triangle shawl with unique side-to-side shaping that makes for an engaging knit. This shawl starts as an asymmetrical triangle and through clever use of short rows, it morphs into an almost symmetrical triangle. You’ll love watching it change shape as you knit the short rows.

The textured stripes especially highlight the variegated yarn, so the Everywhen shawl is a perfect pattern for a special skein you’ve been saving. I love this stitch pattern so much that I’ve designed a series of shawls exploring the possibilities with it. The other two shawls are Everyone and Everywear. I have some more ideas, so the collection will probably keep growing!

Sample knit in Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Lightweight in Deep Unrelenting Gray and Total Eclipse of the Sun.

We’re All Mad Here: Textured Arm Warmers Knitting Pattern

We're All Mad Here arm warmers

About We’re All Mad Here

You’ll love wearing the We’re All Mad Here arm warmers when you knit them up in a nice soft yarn. The stitch pattern is quite stretchy, so you can rest easy knowing that they’ll fit almost anyone. They are great to knit as gifts because of this stretchy fit. Equally appealing is the simplicity of the textured stitch pattern. You can easily memorize the stitch so it’s easy to knit in front of the tv or as a take-along project.

I’ve knit a couple pairs of We’re All Mad Here arm warmers and although I like them both, the pair I knit with Knit Picks Capretta is my favorite. The yarn is SO soft! With 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon it feels luxurious and wearable at the same time.

Free Knit Headband Pattern for Short Row Practice

free knit headband pattern

About the Free Knit Headband

This free knit headband pattern is designed to practice wrap and turn short rows. It is knit in the round and fits most heads from big kids to adults. You’ll want to make sure and use a yarn with plenty of elasticity so it snaps back into shape instead of stretching out after wearing.

The short row shaping in this headband makes the top wider than the bottom. This shape makes it comfortable to wear and helps it stay in place.

This is one of my older patterns. I’ve been on a hair accessories kick lately, though. You may want to see my ear warmer headband, scrunchies, and hair ties knitting tutorials.

Eight Tiny Reindeer: Ear Flap Hat Knitting Pattern

Eight Tiny Reindeer earflap hat pattern

Description of Reindeer Hat

This is one of my earliest and still most popular knitting patterns. Eight tiny reindeer is an earflap hat featuring Santa’s eight reindeer in a lacy pattern. When knit in a contrasting color, the stockinette lining shows through around each reindeer head.

Eight Tiny Reindeer uses clever construction to knit the earflaps, hat, and lining while joining the pieces as you go, so there isn’t a bunch of sewing together when you’re done. In fact, when you finish knitting, the only seaming you’ll do is closing up the sides of the earflaps.

If you’re looking for a super-warm hat, look no further! This double layer of wool will keep you warm in the coldest months. The pattern is written in one size to fit most adults. I used Patons Classic Wool for my samples. It’s a solid choice for quality wool at an affordable price (See how I used it in my Manta shawl.) A couple of good DK yarns for the lining are Plymouth Yarn DK superwash and, for the softest lining, Lion Brand Touch of Merino.

Co-pilot: Textured Cowl Knitting Pattern

Co-pilot cowl worn with a Chewbacca t-shirt

Description of Co-pilot Cowl

Do you have a favorite co-pilot? I guess I do, because he inspired the Co-pilot cowl! One day I noticed that a yarn I had in my stash looked great with a Chewbacca sweater I bought at Disneyland. Of course I got to work right away.

The slipped stitch texture of the cowl mimics Chewie’s fur and eliminates any color pooling from a variegated yarn. Yay for double duty! Shaping at the bottom of the cowl creates points at the front and back for interest.

This cowl looks good worn loose around the neck or pulled in snug and secured with a pin. I hold mine in place with a bobby pin and it works like a charm. The versatility makes it easy to wear during the in-between seasons. You can pull it up and pin it if it’s chilly, if it starts to warm up you can just unpin and let it fold over.

Co-pilot Cowl is a fast and fun knit that uses less than a skein of fingering weight and it’s the perfect project for a highly variegated colorway if you’re anti-pooling. I hope you have fun knitting yours! Don’t forget to show me by using #copilotcowl

Downtime: Triangle Shawl Knitting Pattern

Downtime shawl close up

Description of Downtime Shawl

I designed the Downtime shawl with the winter holidays in mind. As we head into the last month of the year, things are about to get busy for most of us. Almost everyone has at least one holiday to celebrate this time of year and that means planning, parties, shopping, and general busyness. Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a simple and satisfying project that was easy to pick up whenever you have a few spare minutes? Imagine how it could help you maintain your peace through the end of the year.

Downtime was designed to be easy to pick up for a few minutes here and there in your downtime (see what I did there?). A simple two-row stitch pattern and clever placement of a stitch marker to track your increases mean that you never need to remember which row you left off at.

Downtime uses two skeins (800 yd) of fingering weight yarn in the same color. This shawl is knit side-to-side and features a continuous i-cord edge that is worked as you go. The texture alternates between luxuriously squishy slipped stitch rib and garter stitch, so just when you tire of one stitch you get to switch it up and prevent boredom.

Pick up your copy of Downtime today and cast on now so you’ll be ready to take a well-deserved knit break when the holiday season kicks into full swing.

Glitchy: One Skein Shawl Knitting Pattern

Glitchy shawl front

About Glitchy Shawl

The Glitchy shawl was created especially for the Knit Dizzney 2018 colorway Glitchin’ Sheep, by Lazer Sheep Yarns. A yarn inspired by Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph. Unfortunately, the limited-edition colorway is no longer available. But don’t fear! I think Glitchy would look great in any of Lazer Sheep Yarns’ gorgeous colorways! You’ll love knitting this perfect little one-skein shawl. This pattern is easy to knit and memorize, so it’s great tv knitting! Glitchy features a fun bit of texture reminiscent of Vanellope’s glitch. Glitchy is a top-down triangle with all-over texture and a knit-on garter stitch border.

The Shawl You’re Looking For: Triangle Knitting Pattern

The Shawl You're Looking For, outstretched

About The Shawl You’re Looking For

The Shawl You’re Looking For is a great pattern to combine yarns that you want to use in a project together but don’t want to actually blend them together. The Star Wars inspired droid yarns I used go together as well as R2-D2, C3PO, and BB-8 do, but they don’t look as beautiful blended together in color work. Changing colors halfway through some of the stripes creates a fun color blocking effect within the striped pattern.

The stripes not only alternate color, but also texture. Stockinette stitch really lets the uniquely dyed yarns shine, while garter stitch solid stripes give the shawl some squish factor. You’ll love how the garter stitch border is knit on, creating a final garter stripe that runs perpendicular to the rest of the garter stitch. It’s that last little detail that elevates the design from simple shawl to casual wardrobe staple.

All three droid yarns I used are by Lazer Sheep Yarns and I highly recommend them. The colorways are R2-Sheep2, Sheep3-PO, and BB-Sheep.
